3 days 3 nights @ Mumbai

Sorry for missing in action again last week. After spend 3 days 3 nights in Mumbai for some intensive duty, really need to sleep whole weekend to recover back a bit ;-). This trip is not for holidays, so no photos of nice views, nice scenes and historical places. Can only show you guys some of the scenes when I travel from my hotel to the office.

This is my first visit to Mumbai or even to India, what surprise me the most is the road quality. I wonder how they can drive on the road with slumps and hole everywhere, being one of the fastest-growing countries and societies, I doubt the progress of development and their government approach in reshaping the country.

But you know what... somehow, I enjoy traveling on the roads like these, enjoy seeing the life surrounding, enjoy being part of the crowd and even looking forward to walk down the street by myself (I'm sitting in cab all the time). It's Ganesha festival and therefore a lot of dancing and singing actions on the road at night (while sending the idols to be immersed into sea), but I didn't capture any nice photos.

I usually avoid spicy stuffs but my lunch and dinner in these few days are really delicious. Some of the common dishes like Chicken Masala, Nasi Briyani, I thought should be similar but turned out the combination of spices really surprise me.

I can't name all of them except Chapati and Briyani. I had the Briyani rice (more food but I'm busy eating...) at one of the pub in Powai area and it's so good. The only thing that I'm not so enjoy is the dessert they serve.

They serve this little white dessert after lunch, which come in different shape everyday. Its main ingredient is milk. I like milk but they've added some leaves with strong smells until cover the original flavour of fresh milk.

My last Mumbai's meal before fly back to Malaysia, finally I know the price, Rs. 130 for the chicken burger and Rs. 50 for the coke. This ends my short trip to Mumbai but I hope to visit again, as a tourist maybe next time.

Hoca Nasi Lemak @ KLCC

Ah... starting tomorrow, my working office will no longer in KLCC anymore. We have been shifted to a nearby building, but I still have to pass KLCC if I go to work by train, and most probably buy some nasi lemak or cekodok for my breakfast.

One of the nasi lemak that I normally eat is Hoca Nasi Lemak. A coffee house selling nasi lemak, maybe this will not attract you too much, but the most important reason to me is because the sambal is not too spicy ;-) and the rice comes with rich coconut milk flavour.

Priced at RM 3 per pack, it's really too expensive for simple ingredients, but it worth the money in my opinion.

Bao-Bao @ Puchong Jaya

Ah... a non-pan mee expert trying to recommend a pan mee ;-)

Bao-Bao pan mee has been there for quite some months, but I didn't pay attention to them simply because they are selling pan mee, which is always not my first choice when come to meal decision.

As other pan mee sellers, the most important element while eating pan mee is the chili, and I think Bao-Bao has done a great job in preparing this (I'm not good in chili, so please judge it yourself). Bao-Bao offers 4 type of chili sauces, I must confessed I only tried a pinch of them, but I quite like the dark sambal and the typical pan mee sauce (west and south in the photo).

If you want to have these chili sauces at home, Bao-Bao also sells them in bottles, just like Nando's peri peri sauce. I didn't check the price per bottle as it will take me years to finish a bottle.

We've tried their famous pan mee, both dry and soup (RM 4.20). They have prepared it a bit unusual, because I didn't see the typical Chinese black fungus (木耳), fried ikan bilis and minced pork. If you said they are creative, I think I will agree, because they've replaced the fried ikan bilis with chopped fried bean curd skin stuffed with fish paste, which is the normal side dish for noodle in Perak, but at the same time, I also think they've maximize their profit because the cost is really low now.

If I'm not mistaken, you can order fried ikan bilis separately if you want. Taste wise, it's not bad, but for the soup type, it's over flavored as the soup just too sweet. Anyway, chili plays important role here and if you agree with me their sauce is not bad, then I think generally you will like this.
