Ninja Jones @ Mid Valley City

Ah... what I'm trying to do? Promote Mid Valley huh? He he... not really. It just coincidentally few posts also located at Mid Valley City. The initial plan is to visit Isthmus, but unfortunately they close on Sunday, so we switch to the nearest second option, Ninja Jones.

This restaurant already blogged by few floggers although it's still consider quite new, you can check out the story and review by boo_licious, Tummythoz and meiyen.

With only 2 of us, we just order a sukiyaki, a sushi roll and a temaki. Price wise is obviously high, but I'm not that impressed by the food anyway.

They have done a good job in preparing this Wagyu Sukiyaki (RM 58) by adding lot of leeks, which boost the sweetness of the soup. I didn't manage to finish this bowl of sukiyaki, one reason is because it's big, another reason also because it's too sweet. I like the *sort of* glass noodles (harusame?) in the soup, how great if I can have that glass noodles as main dish, accompanied by same sukiyaki in a ramen size bowl... that will be just nice.

I shared some sukiyaki with SG, and she ordered herself a King Prawn Roll (RM 32) and a California Temaki (RM 6). The king prawn doesn't taste different with the normal fresh big prawn, and because this is deep fried, I always think this is not suitable for sushi roll. Besides, I also not so enjoy the chemistry between avocado and mayonnaise. The temaki is just okay, nothing more, nothing less.

The Lemon Glass (RM 18) is not refreshing and not savoring either (it claims added sake), better order a real sake ;-)

To me... today's orders are not inspiring, but I don't mind revisit again to sample other items.

Tu-Long Xiao Long Bao @ Mid Valley

Opps... it's Mid Valley again. I dropped by quite often recently (for some reason) although I seldom visit here in the past few years. Cracking my head every time thinking about food in Mid Valley. Despite being severely criticized by PasanKia, I still decided to dine at Tu-Long, for maybe just one time ;-)

I don't quite like its interior design as it is too traditional China's style. Dragon, gold + red usually makes me relates to Chinese New Year. Let's check what I've ordered (bad photos because it's dim at night and bad skill I have).

A self-proclaimed expert in xiao long bao, so I think they must be very good in this, turned out, not good. It has plenty of soup in the dumpling and taste just standard, but I have 4 dumplings in different size, skin dough almost one and a half of the usual xiao long bao. I've ordered the Shanghai (上海小笼包 RM 8) and crab meat (鲜蟹肉小笼包 RM 8) type, both also having the same problem.

La mian is another specialty here. 2 la mian we've tried, La mian with dried scallop and chicken (瑶柱鸡汤拉面 RM 14) and La mian with cold pig's shank (北京熏蹄拉面 RM 12).

Frankly, beside the noodles (just noodles), both ingredients and soup are just so so. The scallop soup uses only cheap ingredients therefore it's below par, if RM 14 not enough to make good profit, I rather they charge higher price or better don't sell this. About the cold pig's shank, it should be type of "smoking" dish, but taste a bit bland. Taiwanese has better creativity and heart in preparing pig's shank / trotter in my humble opinion.

So the conclusion is, this maybe my first and last visit.

Killiney Kopitiam @ Mid Valley

Most of you maybe already sick of food at Mid Valley, so am I. Weeks ago when I was thinking what to eat at the Boulevard area, suddenly saw this, Killiney Kopitiam. So is this another typical local kopitiam upgraded to shopping mall just to earn some more income? Ah... this is not. Killiney Kopitiam is all the way from Singapore, and has been there since 1919.

Don't know where I've put my receipt, so no price information here. The packed nasi lemak and tea taste not bad, and I like the toast although it doesn't look too good. Our first few orders seem quite promising, so I decided to order a few more snacks.

Ended up the bun and Siam bihun turned out just normal. Anyway, I will visit them again next time because still yet to try their curry chicken, besides, their toast, which far better than our Old Town Kopitiam already a good reason to drop by.
