Ho Choong Tuck @ Damansara Uptown

Weeks ago had breakfast at Ho Choong Tuck, Damansara Uptown. 2 of us only managed to finish 6 little plates (RM 19.30), and the quality was fine to me, but lack of variety.

Recently chat with a friend about Hong Kong dim sum (she's almost Hongkist...) and from her description, seems dim sum over there is really fantastic. She's surprise when I told her some restaurant serves flowy custard bun (e.g. SOHO) here. So I convinced her to visit those dim sum restaurants, hopefully she can point to me any of them has quality close to Hong Kong's restaurant.

Crystal Jade @ Lot 10

(Quickpost) Revisited Crystal Jade recently. Instead of just order my favourite items, la mian (RM 8) and xiao long bao (RM 8)...

We also tried some hot dishes, which go perfectly with rice. Pork ball & egg yolk (RM 17) is a surprise. I didn't notice any special from the outside, but once cut the pork ball, the egg yolk looks so great. I like the combination of meat with egg yolk, years ago I prepared this quite often at home, but now... too lazy ;-)

Pork Belly (RM 18) is one of my all time favourites. Basically I ordered this whenever I had dinner at Chinese restaurant. It's a bit oily (and therefore unhealthy), not sure how much cholesterol it will contribute to my body, but I just can't stop loving this. Crystal Jade's version slightly strong taste on the vegetables (mui choi), but overall still consider good.

Breakfast @ New Sun Ho, OUG

One fine morning we dropped by OUG market to get some fresh fruits and breakfast. Morning market was really packed... managed to find a parking but it was miles away. This is only my (less than) 10th visits to OUG, no idea what to eat, so we start checking where the crowd is and what is the popular dish.

After a short walking tour around, finally we decided to have our breakfast at New Sun Ho hawker center. We've ordered Lo Mee because most tables are having this.

Priced at RM 3.80. I will say it's not bad (although I don't really like Lo Mee) especially eat with their very own sambal (didn't take photo of sambal). If you like Lo Mee, can give this a try.

Other than Lo Mee, I've also ordered some popiah (yes, it's popiah again). The bite is good because they've added some fried crunchy thingy into it, but taste wise, it's just okay. No pork lard this time (at least I don't see it). I still remember once (X years ago) popiah in KL wrapped some crab meats inside, but wonder why seldom see it nowadays.

Drink here is quite expensive (as compare to others). An ice coffee cost me RM 1.50, no wonder they said wealthy families live around OUG ;-)

New gadget? Brand changed ;-)

Life is busy. Sorry that I've (nearly) abandoned my blog, with merely 1 post per week. I'm trying to practise "work" only during working hours, but somehow still can't achieve it (yet). Anyway... I will continue my food hunting very soon, with my brand new...

Fatt Gou

Went back to hometown for Qingming Festival and saw my mum preparing this: Fatt Gou, a Chinese version of muffin.

Of course I'm not posting a recipe here since I'm not good in cooking. Heard from my mum this will cost 50 cents if you buy it outside, imagine how much it cost if you prepare it yourself? Well... it's less than 10 cents per piece.

Old folks trying hard to save money cent by cent, but I think youngsters nowadays cannot follow this great attitude anymore, not even me. Looking at the Fatt Gou and comparing the price helps me learn some lesson, and surrounding us there is more stories can enlighten us.
