Him Heang @ Penang

Another snack's post!

This time is about Him Heang's Tau Sar Pneah all the way from Penang. What so special about Him Heang? I blogged on Ghee Hiang months ago, to me, the best Tau Sar Pneah is either one of these two, but personally I'm more prefer Him Heang.

You may find it a bit frustrated to get Him Heang's biscuit because they have no other branch, one and the only one shop located at Jalan Burma. I love the soft bean paste inside and the well baked skin outside (but my mum complaints the bean paste is a bit too soft), it's just great to push whole piece into mouth.

To avoid the crowd, you MUST call to reserve first, even worst, they don't open on public holidays :-(

whoa, are there no decent tau sar pheah outlets in KL? Shame. They're good. And this post just ignited a craving. lol.

If possible, ask & arrive at the end of their baking time. Just the fresh batch's smell will make your wait worthwhile!

OOOO my sis's fav. I prefer the other type, that flaky one with the gooey sticky sugary paste inside. I dunno what is it called.

My sis can finish one box of this by herself. :D

hi there... yeah this is a "must buy" for friends and family when we get to Penang. Anyway, I'm also a food blogger and I would like to request to exchange links with you... I have added you in my blog list as I'm also a frequent reader of your blog. This is my food blog address: http://laksashiok.freehostia.com/
Comments are welcome, as I've only started beginning of this year.

momo : hi momo, you're right, there is no decent tau sar pheah here (so far, to me).

tummythoz : hmm.. that's is a bit tough ;-)

joe : maybe you don't like tau sar pheah, let me know which one you think okay, then that one must be very good :-)

honey star : the one you mentioned "beh teh sor" maybe. i like that too.. but sometimes it's not that fresh.

meiyen : 10 boxes? prefer to finish that within 10 days, else will not fresh already.

teckiee : usually i eat 4 pieces as breakfast, that's all I can.

laksashiok : it's my pleasure (but your blog hosting site seems quite slow ya...)

Apart from Ghee Heang and Him Heang, another brand name worth trying IMHO is Chuan Pin. I have been giving them as gift to friends and all of them gave good rating, some said they taste better than the former two!

puerca : saw their brand but never try before, maybe i should next time. thanks!

I'm a Penangnite who grows up with Him Heang.. i don;t know why i always prefer Him Heang than Ghee Hiang.. but to my ultimate disappoitment, the box i bought last week was damned disappointing, the biscuit has shrunk. And I'm angry most is the biscuit has so much flour taste, no frangrance, no eggy taste at all, too dry.. what's is Him Heang trying to do.. cut cost !!!

I appeal to the people in Penang to testify this.. foreigners to Penang.. please sharpen up your tongue ...and i swear i will not buy from Him Heang anymore...

Now i wonder who's good ...
