(Fake) Ding Tai Feng @ SS2

Anyone have same comment with me, put up your hand lol please... This is, "fake" Ding Tai Feng. Wonder we can sue them or not... copycat, already copied people name, so at least, come out with some "acceptable" quality food.

I shouldn't visit here, but somehow... I stepped in. I've paid for my most tasteless "cham"..

I'm not the only one complaint about the food.. there was another table outside, complaint the food quality as well... luckily, the noodles that I've ordered was not "too" bad, but the char siew really just plain.

Lastly... here are what they claim they good at... Xiao Long Bao. I've ordered the normal type, and the other one with crab. But are just... not nice. Yea... it's not hard until no soup inside, but overall, taste just not up to standard yet, and the vinegar and ginger that they served, too low quality.

If you happen to try this restaurant before, do give your comments here. I've not much time to blog about it... really need a good rest after beer and beer and beer with client... (faint).

HOMI Curry Puff

Searching in my photo library... wanted to find something simple for today post, coz really busy with work. I'm not enjoy this kind of working frequency... envy those musician, even busy, but still busy with their own passion, not like me now :(.

Yeah, here I got this, HOMI curry puff!

Not sure what's the origin of curry puff... is it another made in M'sia? There are quite a lot of famous curry puffs around Klang Valley, HOMI definitely one of them. Of course, this is not my first try on HOMI, but today they seems taste a lot better! Maybe because of some of the suck food I've just tried, so by contrast, this is heaven...

As usual, HOMI curry puff comes with layers and layers of skin, I love the feels when I bite on it... too crunchy! The fillings is just nice, not too thick but SG always complaint this is too oily for her. For those that haven't try this before, go grab one, but make sure you eat it while it's still hot.

NFB - Puchong

NFB (Non-food blogging), abbreviation idea from masak-masak's WCB series.

Sat at Sri Melur Puchong few weeks ago... still remember when I first moved to Puchong, lot of people told me, this is just a small town, and I really had the same feeling at that moment, I told myself, I will not consider Puchong if I plan to buy a house...

But things have really changed, in this few years. Since the launch of second hypermarket, Giant, follow by massive development project by YTL, IOI, Malton... standard of this small town seems getting higher. How do I measure it?

By bank maybe:

Maybank, Public Bank, RHB, UOB, Bank Simpanan Nasional, HSBC, EON Finance... Standard Chartered, Citibank, OCBC, AmBank, Southern Bank, Hong Leong Bank...

All these thought, came across my mind when I saw OCBC and Citibank new branches just opposite... opening soon.

Quilin @ SS15 Subang Jaya

Finally found this shop... one of the famous pork noodles in Subang area. PasanKia blog about this shop before, I've decided to try long long time ago... but just don't have heart to explore down here.

If you are familiar with Subang Jaya area, this shop should not hard to find, but for dummy like me, need help from MF then only can locate it. The pork noodles stall is actually in a coffee house called Quilin, there are some other stalls selling roasted chicken, wantan mee, etc... but I believe most people come here because of the pork noodles.

Since PasanKia and MF already warned me before, I need to wait so long for the noodles, so I don't really feel surprise when the waitress inform me I've to wait for 45 minutes. Ordered my ice tea, walking here and there... finally I got my pork noodles! SG has timed it... oh man! Exactly 1 hour! I put so high hope on this... this must taste great... else...

Things not always worth as it claim sometimes. First slurp on the soup... I already disappointed. No doubt, it's good... but waited 1 hour, I was expecting something "great"! This pork noodles for me... is just normal quality, maybe slightly above average, I definitely will not back here again for the noodles, if only they can serve me within 15 minutes.

Sometimes I just wonder... after tasted so many so called "famous" dishes in Klang Valley, make me feels that to get famous, maybe, not as hard as I thought. :)

Restaurant Little Italy

Few days didn't post... working life get a bit stressed and frustrated, too many "concurrent" task on hand. Planned to sleep earlier today... but I decided to sacrifice my sleeping time for eatinout!

An old friend told me about this restaurant, shame to say I stayed in Puchong, need friend from Klang to tell me about Puchong restaurant...

The restaurant is selling Italian cuisines (should be), when we reached there, maybe time is still early... we are the only customer there, only after we've placed orders, then only see some faces come in (surprisingly, met my primary schoolmate!).

The environment is quite dim, so sorry for the picture quality. The pizza that we ordered, Hawaiian Delight (RM 11.90) taste not really nice. With this small restaurant and limited kitchen space, I don't think they bake this with wood oven. My main course today, Fettuccine Al Salmone (RM 16.90)... seems I always order this whenever I see this in menu :p. The colour, texture and deco look not good... but luckily the quality still ok for me.

Few other tables order Italian rice... must be not bad, will give it a try maybe... but not today.

Santini Wednesday Set Lunch

Maybe you've already noticed from my "grey" items on right panel... yeap, I've tried Santini's Wednesday set lunch.

So far, they have maintained good quality for the set lunch series, but taste wise, Wednesday's sets should be the most "typical" one. Grilled Fish Fillet which come in rather small portion, tagliatelle (correct me if I'm wrong) as base and topped with grilled fish fillet. If compare this with other set, Rigatoni with Beef Ragout, I will definitely more prefer this. Reason... the Rigatoni with Beef Ragout is even more common in taste, cooked in sort of bolognese style, but please don't misunderstand me, they still taste good, just lack of surprise.

Not going to post the drinks here... cause I've stuck to coffee and tea as my last visit, but one thing I need to let you all know, not sure is it because someone from their management team read about my complaint on their slow billing service... this time I asked for bill once the food served and I got my bill in less than 3 minutes. Obviously something different today... I saw whole new team of waiters and waitress...

Little Taiwan @ Subang Jaya

Initially thinking to visit pork noodles posted by PasanKia last time... but "road blind" like me, failed to find the shop :(. So I changed my mind and go to Asia Cafe for lunch... but on my way, spotted this shop suddenly, Little Taiwan, it's just next to Asia Cafe, opposite one of Inti's gate.

Thought can have some good food here... who knows...

These are what I've ordered, Taiwan Braised Beef Rice (RM 7.90) and Taiwan Special Toast (RM 5.90). Their service is "extremely" fast. I got my beef rice in less than 3 minutes, so obviously this is only reheated by microwave. Well... as long as it tastes good, I don't mind to have food like this.. but unfortunately, it tastes bad. So I turned to the special toast, since it really looks nice. First sip on the sauce, expecting some creamy stuff, but ended up... waterly. Peep next table that having the same toast as us... but why ah... he seems like it?!

Hmm.. enough for food, maybe can put my hope on the drinks. Green Pearl Milk Tea (RM 3.90) and Blue Coral (RM 5.90). I've tried some other Taiwanese drinks before... but so far... these are the worst. I regret, should drive a little bit more (at most 2 meters) and I can have my lunch at Asia Cafe... hai.

KLFC

When I worked at TPM last time, we visit here occasionally for lunch, and my colleagues used to call here "KFC". The food here is not fantastic, my revisit tonite is just to confirm the "sai mei lou" really stop business already.

Here are the foods that I've ordered, all not healthy one...

Uncle Bob (RM ?? forgotten, 4++ gua)

Fried mushrooms (RM ?? also forgotten)

Really roasted pigeon? (RM 7)

Curry mee (RM 3.50)

For me... the curry mee is not bad, and the rest are just some crispy snacks, nothing too excited so far. After today visit, not sure when will I back here again... cause really no stall attracted me. Luckily spotted some other restaurant in this area, maybe will give them a try next time.

Santini Friday Set Lunch

As mentioned in my previous post, I will try to blog about Santini's set lunch and San Francisco's set lunch as much as possible, and here are the Friday Santini's sets that I've tried last week. I've ordered coffee and tea for drink, as compare to their soft drink... needless to say, it's a lot better.

Fully utilized subsidiaries under one roof

I saw same regular customer (which I met in my last visit) again. Seems they are also like me... wanted to try out all Santini's set! So here are the sets, Taglitelle with Prawn and Grilled Seabass.

Well... their cook really served it "sincerely", even it's just a set lunch. The Taglitelle was so creamy served with fresh prawn, and I love the sauce so much. The Grilled Seabass for me... just ok only, maybe I'm not so fond of fish. Overall, these are really above average in term of quality over price.

One little thing to complaint about, is they are "very" slow in billing. My advice is, upon they serve you the food, ask for the bill immediately. My both visits concluded that I need to wait at least 15 - 20 minutes for the bill... no idea how hard to prepare a bill for only 2 set lunches.

Really sorry about this... I've to change my nickname in blogger. I think it's a good idea to have one nickname for everything... and want to have more "polite" pronunciation too. So here is my new nickname:

Pringles

I'm not like boo_licious, can share recipe with you guys... no actual food to blog about today, so I can only share with you my junk food. :p

Recently just bought 2 limited edition of Pringles from their Wild West series, cost about RM 5+ per bottle. I love Pringles long time ago, but since they "manufactured" locally (M'sia), I start to opt for other choice... but from time to time, I still will give their "imported" bottle a try.

From the flavour, I roughly already know how it tastes. As expected, Hot Chili Jalapena, very suitable for Malaysian, but after I took few pieces of Macho Nacho Cheese... this tastes a lot better, at least... for me.

Asked Wikipedia and found out it hosted quite a complete story about Pringles, not going to re-create the contents here, go check it out!

Bidor Food (x1)

Hmm... I think it's time to reveal where my hometown is. I've been talking a lot to my friend about the food here, but never bring them here... so sorry about that.

Yeap, I'm from Bidor. If you don't know where is Bidor, follow the north-south highway sign below:

KL -> Tanjung Malim -> Slim River -> Sungkai -> Bidor -> Tapah -> Ipoh -> Taiping -> Penang

Or if you still no idea about it, Bidor is famous with Chicken Biscuit (鸡仔饼), Duck noodles (鸭腿面), Guava (鸡屎果), Soy Sauce (those angel 仙女 angel 天女 brands), etc...

Okay... so what I usually eat at Bidor? I will blog about breakfast this time. Usually I will have Chee Cheong Fun for breakfast, I love it so much... it's totally different with the version that you get in KL.

See the Chee Cheong Fun above? It's actually a stall running by my friend's sister, she went to Teluk Intan (Anson) to learn about this type of CCF. Taste a little bit stronger than the normal one that I have, but I'm still more prefer the one that I'm going to show you...

These are the one I like! The left one actually same type with the one above, but this taste more "familiar" to me... cause I've been eating it since... 7-year-old maybe. It's actually done by a family, and distributes it to most of the shop around Bidor to sell. Its ingredients, consists of shrimp, preserved dried cabbage, some minced meat, etc. The one on right main ingredient is shrimp. I love both type, and usually eat it with only soy sauce. Sometimes I will eat the right one with red sweet sauce, but lot of people here like to have these with curry.

This is the shop I have my breakfast, most of the time. It's my friend family business.

I will always order the same drink... Cham (tea + kopi).

And this is... Fu Pei 腐皮, must have!

If you're at Bidor in the morning, ask around for market location, you can find most of the shop and food there.

Restoran Lily @ Bukit Bintang

I have a friend name Lily... but this is not her shop lah! This is another shop located at Jalan Bukit Bintang, I always pass by this shop when I go to Jalan Alor for 1+3456D :p.

Restoran Lily is not really packed during lunch hour, so I guess they only serve "ok" Chinese food. They have only few tables in a rather small space... but surprisingly they have quite a lot of items in their menu. You can either choose from their a la carte menu, or order a set lunch for 3, 5, 8 or 10 persons... price range from RM20+ to RM60+.

I don't really fancy prawn, but today I've ordered one style of prawn, which I rarely see... Sweet and Sour (咕噜虾 Gu Lou) Prawn RM 7! Normally I have this cooking style with either pork or chicken... but today is my first time try this on prawn. Well... the result of this combination for me, not good. I don't like the way they fried the prawn then cook it in sweet and sour sauce... Cause fried prawn is meant to be crispy from the outside.

This is what SG has for lunch... Black Pepper Udon (黑椒乌东) RM 8. Taste... just normal. I heard from my friend that Chinese stall at Desa Petaling can cook a better Black Pepper Udon, let's see if I can blog about it some days later.

Here is the map...

U-Village @ Sungei Wang Plaza

This already my second visit to U-Village at Sungei Wang Plaza, first time was with PasanKia and Joey, but wonders why none of us take any photo...

U-Village has a lot of food choices, for me... some of the quality not bad because it needs more "cooking" skills compare to other "Char Chan Teng". It's located in Sungei Wang, but not so easy to spot it if you're physically "in" Sungei Wang but if you come from Low Yat Plaza, it's actually just opposite Genki Sushi Sushi King @ Low Yat Plaza.

These are the drinks that I ordered: Tea in HK Style (RM 2.50) and "Ying Yong" in HK Style (RM 2.50). I like to have either one of this every time I visit HK "Char Chan Teng"... like the taste, dunno why.

This is SG first time order instant noodle at HK style restaurant, Nissin with Spicy Pork (RM 5.90). I've ordered one of their new items, Beef Brisket Noodle (RM 8.90). Hmm... Both taste not bad for me, still remembered my last visit here, all my orders also not nice (forgotten what I ordered already...), but PasanKia's pumpkin fried rice quite good. Will visit again to try out the rest of the food... but I'm more interested in "Tong Lor Wan Tsim Tung" at Pandan somewhere... anyone can provide me the map or instruction? I heard their quality is quite good...

San Francisco Steakhouse & Santini Set Lunch

I think I really need to post this, set lunch offer by http://eatinout.blogspot.com/2006/06/santini-suria-klcc.html, it's different with San Francisco Steakhouse set lunch which I posted 2 days ago. I will definitely try both, as much as possible.

Please take note the outlets that offer set lunch...
Santini - KLCC
San Francisco Steakhouse - Mid Valley megamall, Submit Subang USJ

Still the same words... hate TT (Tai Thong) created so many names to confuse me...

santini

Santini @ Suria KLCC

First of all... I would like to say sorry to Water blower... I called him this afternoon and told him I was having my set lunch at San Francisco Steakhouse at KLCC (if you remember, I posted about San Francisco's 2 days ago)... but in fact, the set that I have is by Santini, different with the one in my previous post!

Both Santini and San Francisco Steakhouse are under TT Resources, so both of them offer "similar" set lunch... except Santini's RM 12.90 for only one main course and one drink, but San Francisco's RM 13.90 for one main course plus 2 of the following items : Soup of the Day - Salad of the Day - Dessert of the Day. Which one sounds better for you?

This is why I get confused...

One thing good is I no need to think what to eat. I just follow the day... and order the set! Today is Thursday... so here are our main courses...

Warm Roasted Beef

Bavette with Roasted Chicken

With this kind of price... I will say the quality is good. I love the parmesan cheese with bavette... creamy and yummy. The Warm Roasted Beef... also good even Bavette with Roasted Chicken is slightly better. The only thing to complaint about, is the soft drink. If you go and try their set lunch, my advice is, take either tea or coffee... because the soft drink taste like already mixed with one-third of plain water :(.

Still 7 more sets to try, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and 3 daily set lunch. When are you coming back PasanKia? Need kaki for this ler...
