Soon Fatt @ Sri Petaling

9pm+, I'm at Sri Petaling looking for place to dinner, and found this place... so packed, even time already quite late for dinner. The restaurant is just opposite Hotel Sri Petaling, a typical Chinese restaurant.

To make my life easier, I just ask for recommendation after I sit down. These are the "must eat" according to the waiter.

"Sek Ban" (石斑) in "Pa Jiu" (芭蕉) style.

"Bo Lor" (菠萝) ribs.

I ordered this myself, just some vege.

Well... overall, the food is nice. I like the fish (you can choose any type of fish to cook in this style), taste sweet and sour + spicy (a bit too spicy for me), and the ribs also another good choice, definitely will come back again to try other dishes... fast service and good price (RM38+ for dishes + 2 rice + drinks).

Charn Kee Tasty Corner

For those who familiar with Jalan Alor, you should have already know this shop. Charn Kee Tasty Corner, you can only find it at Jalan Alor, they have no other branches.

I tried their fish meat ball, about 4 years ago... They serve one of the best (if not the best) fish meat ball I've ever try before. The shop is managed by sisters (I think) and they are very nice to talk with. This place is a bit hot (if you sit outside) and always packed during lunch hours.

Black and White

Seafood noodles

Common drink that I ordered, Black and White (cincao mix with soya milk) and common food that I ordered (as well :D), Seafood soup noodles. I always believe that if you cook with real heart and real ingredient, the end result will always taste good. This shop can assure me about this.

Fish meat balls and dumplings

...and the fish meat balls (still insist to call it "fish meat" ball, cause I believe there are more things inside, not only fish) and dumplings that I like. So if you haven't tried this shop before, do give it a try next time you drop by Jalan Alor, and hope you like it too.

Charn Kee Tasty Corner
No 35, Jalan Alor, 50200 KL.
7:30am - 4:30pm, close on Monday.

Bumbu Bali @ Bandar Puteri, Puchong

Yeah, another restaurant in Bandar Puteri, Puchong. Who said Puchong doesn't have good food? Head down here and give Bumbu Bali a try!

If you step in the restaurant in a damn hot afternoon, please be prepared... there are no aircon here! But surprisingly, I don't feel hot at all, ceiling fans + wooden furniture... cozy environment, good place to relax and enjoy Balinese food. The owner tries to give you a truly feels of Bali, that's why you can see handcraft everywhere... from the moment you enter the restaurant, check out the wall, staircase, 2nd floor... According to the owner of Bumbu Bali, all the handcrafts are imported from Ubud, Bali... (and he even married a Bali's girl...)

Wooden decor with only ceiling fans

On the way to toilet

Ubud's handcrafts

Staircase

Heard a lot good comments about this restaurant, so here's the food recommended by the waitress.

Food menu

Orangina, I order this myself (RM6.50)

BBQ Wings

Char-Broiled Ribeye Steak (RM25)

Es Campur

The plain BBQ Wings, surprisingly, taste good. Not taste as the typical chicken wings, a bit satay feel, grilled, but keep the tenderness of chicken. The fries, taste like normal fries + flavourings of Mister Potato Hot & Spicy... he he ... can't imagine rite?

Moved on to my Char-Broiled Ribeye Steak (medium-well cooked), again, this is good (maybe I'm too hungry)! Sauce or without sauce, it does not make any different. I finished 90% of the steak without even dip the sauce.

Lastly, SG's drink, Es Campur. I must recommend this, taste so... complex. Mix fruits in coconut milk... hmmm...

Mexim @ Puchong

I love dim sum, and always believe there must be some damn nice dim sum out there... but so far, not yet found any... but I still keep my belief...

Today I'm here at Mexim, Puchong. In pass 2 years, a lot of new dim sum restaurant opened in Puchong area... but most are, shit. Mexim already opened quite some times, but only till today, I decided to give it a try, he he.

Most of my friend don't like dim sum, they say too typical food... always "har kao" and "siu mai"...

And this is "har kao" and "siu mai"

The restaurant is located in Puchong Jaya, shoplot behind "Leung Ngar" Yong Tau Foo. Price is normal, all dim sum + drinks cost me RM18.30, filling is fresh and nice, but they need to improve the "skin", cause it's too thick and not soft enough.

"sui kao (dumpling)", "fung ngan (phoenix eyes) kao", fried "sui kao", "pai kuat (rib)", "fung zao (chicken feet)", etc...

Will continue to post more dim sum restaurant in the future...

Kung Fu Claypot Yong Tau Foo @ SunwayMas

It's 9pm at night, what else can I eat around SunwayMas? Hunting around and finally spotted this, Kung Fu Claypot Yong Tau Foo.

Well... KL and Selangor area have quite a lot of Yong Tau Foo, and lot of them claim they are "Hakka" style... fish paste filled in fresh produce... but I'm expecting more than this, dish of a guest families of Chinese, shouldn't just as simple as this. I've tried before some Yong Tau Foo, after filled with fish paste, it needs to be cooked with a lot of sauce and spices before served...

So these are my orders...

So late already, no more fried Tau Foo, no more white Tau Foo... But the fried dumplings are nice, can come back and "tah bao" next time.

Not much choice in the claypot, so have to put all my fried dishes into claypot before take photo. The soup is tasteless, if really want to have Yong Tau Foo in soup, I will recommend to try the Yong Tau Foo @ Puchong (near Han Ming school, but myself don't like it as well :D).

And the last curry mee... hmm... what else can I say?... not nice.

Daimon @ The Curve

Daimon, "original okonomiyaki hiroshima style", that's what they claimed they are (and I wish they are not). Other than the cute icon on the menu, good photo on the the menu, the okonomiyaki that I've ordered, not good at all.

Maybe if cooked by this little cartoon, taste
will be better...

I've ordered a Cheese Okonomi set, which consists of Cheese Okonomi, Gyu Nikomi and a Rooibos Tea (+ tax cost me around RM20++). Well... nothing much to comment about the Okonomi, one word is more than enough, "Tasteless", luckily the Gyu Nikomi not that bad.

After finish eating, the cooker (a lady) come over to ask for comment... wish she can hear what I'm shouting deep from my heart... tasteless!

Ton Chan @ The Curve

Expecting ramen? Why nasi lemak at Ton Chan? hehe... this is what I had for breakfast at Puchong, Min Ren coffee shop.

And here is, Tong Chan at The Curve. Noodles, a great invention of China (I think), two countries had taken it, modify, enhance and promote it, and eventually build their own name, Japan (Ramen, Soba, Udon...) and Italy (Spaghetti, Fettuccine, Macaroni...), I personally, love everything.

Start loving Ramen since I studied in Penang few years back. This is my second visit to Tong Chan, actually not so like the food here (Chiku-ho better), but this round simply come back for PHOTO... Ha ha ha.

Wakayama Ramen + California Temaki set (RM14.90)

Chashu Ramen (RM15)

Reason I don't like the Ramen here: Good Ramen needs combination of good soup, good Ramen + good side dishes. The taste of the soup is not thick enough, and the Ramen, pungent smell. But still will come back... Ha ha.. cause haven't try the "don".

Hong Gei 糖水 (Tong Sui) @ Seksyen 17

Those UM student should know this place quite well, Seksyen 17, PJ. There are quite a lot of food stall along the road, but hardly find any taste really good. This is the Hong Gei Tong Sui, on the paper few times already.

The way they do business, not really like a real businessman. You order Tong Sui, they give you an empty bowl (cost you RM1.20), and you can serve yourself, as many as you can put in that bowl... but surprisingly, sit there half-an-hour, still don't see any greedy people so far.

花生糊 (not nice)...

Sea coconut, this one better...

Beside Tong Sui, they also sell Curry/Asam Laksa, and I've ordered Asam Laksa, RM3 + RM1 fried beancurd strips.

Asam Laksa, taste not bad.

Koong Woh Tong

The legend starts like this... A doctor from imperial palace retired and went back to his hometown, giving out the recipe of this traditional herb and it helped lot lot lot of peoples...

Kong Woh Tong, those who born year-79 before and watch Chinese drama series should remember who is "ma tah"... The drama series 季节 (seasons), and I get to know Gui Ling Gou since that time. Re-visited quite few times to find out what's the difference between theirs and my homemade one... not much different actually. He he...

Half way eating, heard someone ask for help to take photo... then only I remember I should take some photo for these as well... so that's my Gui Ling Gou, snapped when 5% left.

Small bowl will cost you RM4. You should be able to find it at Petaling Street, Mid Valley megamall, 1-Utama, etc.

Ceramic Pot Soup @ Bandar Puteri Puchong - Part 2

[Saturday, March 18, 2006] Last time failed to try the soup, so today visit the same restaurant again... just for the soup.

Well... it makes me feel a bit expensive when I just look at their menu, but in fact, it's quite cheap (Chicken Soup + rice = RM15, other soups range from RM10 - RM12). This bowl of soup, don't try to finish it by yourself, me + SG also find it a bit hard to finish this. So overall the soup... quite nice, but to have your lunch with just soup... it's a bit plain I will say.

And this is my full meal... Soup, rice and fried loh bak kou (not nice). Unbelievable rite... he he.
