Restoran Taiping Lang

How do you define Taiping Lang 太平人? I born in Taiping, stayed there for 6 years, totally no idea about the direction in Taiping, so can I consider as a Taiping Lang? I'm not sure about that, but recently there is a new restaurant at Puchong Jaya, which claimed opened by "real" Taiping Lang (visit their website here).

Yeap, yet another post with lot of photos. The restaurant located very near to Old Town Kopitiam. Taiping Lang has few set menus, each set menu have 4 sets combo, each combo with 3 main courses and one soup, and menu will be rotated everyday (4 sets combo per day). I have their May calendar with me now, but too hard to list everything here... just to name some of the main courses: Achat Hu 青椒姜小鱼, Kali Kay 咖喱鸡, Sambal Kang Hu Kia 辣酱江鱼仔, Hong Ba 冬菇烘肉, Kanang - Chu Kay 薯片鸡, Or T'ee Ba 甜酱肉... etc. Our set on that day, Set Menu (T) - Set D: Bee Ba Special 美姨炖肉, Sambal Hae 辣酱虾, Bangkuang Cha 鱿鱼沙葛 and Soup of the day plus we've added a side dish, Ba Kian 肉卷 (RM 8). Our set is for 3 persons (RM 38), and you can choose either eat with rice or porridge (without extra cost, with free refill).

Bangkuang Cha 鱿鱼沙葛

Homestyle cooking, this is what you can taste from here. I'm not too excited with the quality here... but at least, they have put effort to form the theme, deco, food and music. Listening to old Chinese song while enjoying Grandma's style dishes... kind of relaxing too.

Dessert wise, not much choice you can find here actually. I've ordered a cold Bubur Cha-Cha (RM 3), served with brown sugar, taste quite nice.

And some other random photos...

Serving food...

I saw this in toilet, quite special rite? And Grandma... everywhere.

Not so nice map, hopefully it helps. Click to enlarge.

I didn't have anything good to say about this place. Their food isn't worth the money at all:

tulan - thxs for the tip. Read abt this place from egullet (Teepee went there) and charkueyteow.com - both said food was good there. Since I like homestyle food, will definitely try this out.
