C-Jade Express

Crystal Jade Culinary Concepts Holdings, one of the group really "have heart" in food venture, has recently opened their second concept shop in Malaysia, C-Jade Express @ Mid Valley megamall. Their first shop in Malaysia is the Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao @ Lot 10, which famous with their Xiao Long Bao.

I knew about this shop about 2 years ago... during my frequent travel to down south (Singapore). Not trying to be exaggerated, but you really can see their food chain almost everywhere in Singapore, Crystal Jade Palace Restaurant, Crystal Jade Golden Palace, Crystal Jade Ginseng Chicken & BBQ, Crystal Jade My Bread, Crystal Jade Cakery, Crystal Jade Macau Cafe Restaurant... just to name a few. But so far, I haven't try C-Jade Express in Singapore before (which located at Wisma Atria)... so today I'm going to try their outlet in Malaysia.

Look at the BBQ hanging there... a BBQ exhibition? Looks tempting. After read PasanKia's blog here, decided not to try the roasted duck. Find a seat is quite easy (it's around 3pm now). Remember next time if you visit here, pick your food from the menu, go and order it by yourself. Don't expect the waiters to serve you... after you place your order, they will give you a number plate. My lucky number today is... [73].

Ordered "some" BBQ stuffs, Honey Spare Rib (RM14.80) and Roasted Pork (RM13.80) with 2 Steamed White Rice (RM0.80 each).

Taste wise... hmm... ok only. The Honey Spare Ribs just on a par with those stalls in Singapore. Surprisingly, Malaysia Chinese BBQ stall seldom sell rib, but in Singapore, rib is consider one of the "normal item" for BBQ stall. And the Roasted Pork, well, they have chosen the right meat, roast it into the right mode, but the taste is not that good yet. A great roasted pork need to be marinated well and nice, and the skin... we need more than just crispy. Looking forward to try out these in Macau... maybe. Heard there is some great BBQ quality over there, like the Char Siu in "broom" style that Mr. Choy Lan loves.

Wanted to order the Double Boiled Egg White With Milk 炖双皮奶 (RM4.80), but too bad, they didn't serve it today (or they never serve this?), so end up I ordered the Hashima With Soya Bean 豆露雪蛤膏 (RM7.00) and Iced Milk Tea With Coffee 冻鸳鸯 (RM3.50). The Hashima quite special, cause usually I didn't eat it with Soya Bean milk... maybe will try it at home next time.

Dunno whether you tried b4 but there is an open air stall in a small road near Hotel Istana/ Jalan Alor area that has nice Ribs, Roast Pork, Char Siew, Chicken and Duck.

Dammit.
Thinking about it makes me feel hungry.

Kewl.

Do share what you think about the place.
:)

Be careful tho - if you go after 1.30pm on weekdays, the goodies like the ribs is usually all gone....
... oh, and sometimes they don't open on weekends.
